Class of 2024

Abbey Theroux

Elementary School: Clayville Elementary School

Post-High School Plans: I plan to attend Rhode Island College to pursue a Bachelor's of Fine Arts.

Dream Job: My current dream job is to be a Freelance Artist while making music on the side.

Who was your favorite teacher or staff member during your time at SHS?:  My favorite teacher during my time at SHS was Mr. Kelly, who teaches English. What makes him special is how encouraging he is towards following your dreams, as well as his realistic and kind teaching style. Him and I share the same taste in music, and being able to trade vinyl records with him has helped me through many stressful times.

What was your favorite class you took during your time at SHS?:  Advanced Portfolio Studio Honors (both 1 & 2) with Mrs. Feldman. Despite only having four hours a week with this class, the ability to express myself freely and creatively has motivated, and continues to motivate me to come to school.

What advice would you give to next year’s ninth-grade students?:  Don’t worry about having a million friends or being liked by everyone in your class. As long as you stay true to yourself and your beliefs, you will do fine.

What makes SHS special?: The size of the school is really what makes it special, because SHS is a smaller school students have way more opportunities to work with teachers one-on-one and build relationships with peers.

What will you miss the most about SHS? : I will miss the teachers the most. Almost all of my teachers throughout all four years of high school have been nothing short of supportive and wonderful—always in my corner.
